With the rollout of Germany’s Electronic Patient Record (ePA), hospitals are required to provide not only newly created medical documents but also historical laboratory reports and cumulative findings in an ePA-compatible format. Since many older documents are stored in legacy SAP-specific formats, they must first be transformed into standardized PDF documents before they can be transferred to the Telematics Infrastructure (TI).

In this project, I implemented the SAP standard solution for automated document transformation. The work included analyzing SAP Notes, installing and configuring the ISH_N2_INSTPMD_N1KUM_PDF BC Set, creating mass-selection variants, debugging customer-specific enhancements, and automating the entire transformation process using scheduled background jobs.

This article provides a practical overview of the complete implementation process—from the initial system analysis and troubleshooting to the successful migration of historical laboratory reports into ePA-compatible PDF documents.
